University Accreditation

How You Can Benefit

Accreditation is a very important credential for any college or university. Walden University’s accreditation is our way of assuring you that:

  • The courses and programs we offer are of high quality and value.
  • We can offer students who qualify access to federal student aid.
  • Credits earned here are easier to transfer than credits earned at non-accredited institutions.

It is also good to remember that when evaluating credentials, employers and universities often look for applicants who earned their degree from an accredited university. Call 1-877-868-1910 to learn more.

Walden is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association, www.ncahlc.org; 1-312-263-0456.

The Higher Learning Commission is one of the six regional accrediting associations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

The North Central Association is a U.S. membership organization for educational institutions that was created to develop and maintain high standards of academic excellence.

Program Accreditation

Accreditation can also apply to specific degree programs. However, not all programs require or are even eligible for specialized accreditation.

Programmatic accreditation is appropriate for professional programs that lead to certification or licensure. Since all accreditation is voluntary, institutions select the kinds of accreditation they want to pursue, based on their own strategic plan and the types of programs they offer.
